Our Story

Hi, I’m Shawna, founder of Skin Care Shawna, and someone who knows firsthand how frustrating reactive, inflamed skin can be.

I’ve been a certified esthetician for over 25 years and a holistic nutritionist for over 17. Throughout my career, I’ve always believed that skincare should support the skin, not strip it or stress it out. For a long time, I felt alone in that belief, until 2015 when I was introduced to corneotherapy through Advanced Skin Analysis training with Florence Barrett-Hill. In that moment, I realized I wasn’t alone, there was an entire professional skincare community that shared my philosophy: to respect the skin’s barrier and focus on long-term skin health.

I have very reactive skin. No matter what I tried, I still had inflammation, until 2018, when I brought in Dermaviduals, a corneotherapy-aligned skincare line. The change was immediate. My skin calmed, healed, and finally felt comfortable. I’ve never looked back.

A Family-Powered Business

We’re a small, family-supported business based in British Columbia. My life partner, Bruce, helps ship your packages with care. My daughter, Tay, designs our social media visuals. And my son, Grady, is now part of the team, keeping our website updated and user-friendly.

A proud Canadian of Metis/French and Polish/Ukraine heritage, Shawna lives and works in British Columbia on the territories of the Cree, Dene, Dunne-Za, Kaska, Saulteau, Tse’khene, Tahltan, and Tlingit. She also recognizes the Metis Nation BC members who live in this area of British Columbia.
